Camp New York Announces 2026 Best of Camp New York Award Winners

MALTA, N.Y. — October 1, 2026 — Camp New York and Campground Owners of New York (CONY) are pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Best of Camp New York Awards, celebrating campgrounds across New York State that stand out for the experiences, amenities, hospitality and memories they create for campers.

Now in its second year, the Best of Camp New York Awards saw significant growth in participation, with 3,218 responses and 10,080 votes cast, a 70% increase in responses compared with the inaugural 2025 awards.

Winners were announced September 28 during the CONY Annual Meeting in Lake George, where campground owners and industry professionals gathered to celebrate another camping season and recognize the accomplishments of New York's independent campground community.

The awards give campers an opportunity to recognize the places they return to year after year, while shining a spotlight on the campgrounds that help make camping an important part of the New York travel experience.

“These awards are truly a reflection of the campgrounds and what they do for the travelers and campers who continue to visit them year after year,” said Emily Simmons, President & CEO of Campground Owners of New York. “We wanted to create an opportunity for these campgrounds to receive the recognition they deserve. They not only work hard during the camping season, but work all year long to create memorable experiences and lasting memories for their campers. These awards are a wonderful way for campers to say thank you and recognize the places that have become part of their traditions.”

Celebrating the Campgrounds Behind the Camping Experience

The Best of Camp New York Awards were created to celebrate the campgrounds that make camping memorable, from scenic destinations and family traditions to exceptional amenities, recreational opportunities and welcoming campground communities.

For many campers, a campground becomes more than a place to stay. It becomes the setting for annual traditions, family vacations, friendships and memories that continue for generations.

The 2026 winners represent the variety of camping experiences available across New York State, from Adirondack and Catskill destinations to campgrounds along rivers and lakes and family-friendly RV resorts.

“We're incredibly proud of all of this year's winners, but we're equally proud of the campers who took the time to recognize them,” said Simmons. “Their votes show just how meaningful these campgrounds are to the people who visit them.”

The Best of Camp New York Awards are presented by Camp New York and Campground Owners of New York (CONY) as part of an effort to promote and celebrate New York's independent campground industry.
